Glass Museum

The Home of Mexican Glass

With three decades of history, the Museum of Glass tells the evolution of glass in Mexico through its collection.

Visitors have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the past with European glass dating from the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries, explore the traditional Mexican pulquero glass, as well as appreciate the first samples of handmade and industrial glass in the country and the emblematic pieces of pioneering stained glass artists of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

A few meters from the building of the Museum of Glass, is located a ship that was the warehouse of finished product of flat glass. This area was rebuilt and restored by architect Hector Dominguez, respecting its original style at all times.

The use of archival photographs determined the different criteria that were applied in the remodeling and selection of the materials used. As for the construction systems, contemporary solutions were combined with the original ones, always seeking congruence between the two.

The needs that this industrial building covered in the past were very different from those that it would have as part of the museum in the present.
